Club Scientific

Details:

Our unique Science Club program is designed to meet the needs of children in grades K-6. Each science enrichment UNIT lasts for five weeks. Classes meet once a week for approximately 45-50 minutes. Class size is 8-10 students, per instructor with the cost of $70.00 per student per Unit. Each year we introduce new science topics allowing children to continue learning and exploring as they get older.

For years educators have stressed that students learn better "by doing" - especially in the sciences. Students of all ages learn more science-content and skills when they engage in investigation and discovery using everyday materials and the basic equipment of science.

How can this learning take place? Our carefully designed inquiry centered lessons that involve children with hands-on activies which capture children's natural curiosity, stimulate their interest in science and teach them important science topics along with critical thinking skills.

Club Scientific lessons help engage students in observation, measurement, identification of properties, and experimentation involving life, earth and physical science concepts. The units are rigorously researched by science educators with the help of teachers and children. The results are lessons that students can enjoy and genuinely learn from. Science was never this much fun!

Club Scientific believes in parental involvement. In every Club Scientific class, your child will receive a lesson card describing the lesson with some suggestions for extending the learning experience at home. After each five week session, students will receive a science medal to recognize their Scientific achievements.

Club Scientific Science Club provides dozens of science topics including: Rocketry, Chemistry, Paleontology, Forensics, Weather, Flight, Technology and many other disciplines of science. All Club Scientific lessons are designed to help with the development of the following scientific process skills: observing, classifying, comparing, measuring, critical thinking, predicting, hypothesizing, sequencing and experimentation.

Extreme Radical Reaction Lab

Did you know that bubbly, explosive concoctions are all just chemical reactions? We will explore the chemical elements as we have fun creating our own reactions. Elephant toothpaste, bubbling paints, and lemon suds are just a few of the experiments that we will be undertaking. So, put on those safety goggles and let's start mixing!

Anatomy Academy

How does your heart keep beating? How does your skeleton hold up your body? How does your body know when you are hungry? Our bodies are incredible scientific machines. Get ready to become an anatomy expert as we use microscopes to get a really up close view of ourselves. We will also investigate some of the not-so-nice liquids and noises our bodies make. You will know your body inside and out! Are you ready?

Leagues Under the Seas

Did you know that there is a whole area of the ocean that hasn't been explored yet? That the ocean is a vast ecosystem full of strange and unusual creatures? We will be discovering how an octopus swims, learning about the unusual ocean creatures that have just been discovered, and studying how the ocean moves. You'll never think of eating shrimp in the same way again!

Terrific Scientific: Our Best Experiments!

This session is full of the really big impact experiments. We will have Bernoulli's laws help us discover how many breathes it take to fill a 2 meter long bag. Exploring physics we will learn how to balance nails. And, we will experiment with polymers to create a plastic bag that you can poke spears through. Get ready to be amazed!

Geology Rocks!

Are you a rock hound? Do you love to collect rocks? If so, this is the place for you. In Geology Rocks we will discover the science that happens underground while no one is watching. We will explore geodes and create our own crystals. We will discover the science behind how rocks are formed. Get ready to explore the world of high pressure!

Going Green

Everyone wants to take good care of our Earth. In Going Green we will learn how you can help! We will identify bird species found around your home. We will also discover the power of our sun as we make sun prints. Creating your own reusable lunch bag and making your own paper will turn you into a real environmental expert!
